Join us for a lively and engaging conversation with Husna Pasha, Grace Williams, Chin Community Elder and Todd Babiak as they explore their refugee and migrant journeys and build connections in their new home.  

Our Host: 

Husna Pasha is a business woman, media personality and recent owner and founder of The Happychondriac Society.  Growing up in rural Tasmania, her family were not just ‘the only Indians in the village’ they were also the only Muslims.  Following University (B. SC. Occupational Therapy) Husna began her own “Talk Show”, then hit the stand-up comedy scene and soon after an appearance on Channel 10’s ‘The Project in 2015,’ became an in-demand speaker and facilitator at a range of corporate, educational and lifestyle events. ABC Compass also ran a documentary on Husna’s amazing life journey and how she began her own Talk Show known as The Husna Pasha Show. 

Husna is an Indian Muslim Australian woman,  mother of two, balances her full life of speaking, facilitating, media appearances and working in her day role as the Lead in Staff Mental Health at one of the largest hospitals in Melbourne. The Happychondriac Society's mission is to raise awareness of mental health through training, workshops and a podcast.  Husna’s mission is to bridge the gap between humans by creating happier people, who can laugh at themselves and celebrate the cultural diversity which Australia represents. 

Our Panel: 

Grace Williams is Law Graduate, Social Entrepreneur and Filmmaker who believes in utilising the arts as vehicle for social change. Grace was awarded, on behalf of Citizen, the 2018 Tasmanian Human Rights Youth Award for harnessing the power of storytelling to inform and engage diverse communities in important discussions about human rights and diversity in Tasmania. 

Todd Babiak is the CEO of Brand Tasmania. Its mission is to inspire and encourage Tasmanians, and those who want to be Tasmanian, to quietly pursue the extraordinary. He is also the co-founder of Story Engine and Places are People.  

Launceston Chin Community Inc., formerly known as Burmese Community, is a community based non governmental, non-profit, non-political and non-religious organization to represent and promote interests of members of the local Chin community in  
Launceston Region, who arrived in Australia as genuine refuges from Burma (Myanmar) via Malaysia, India, and Thailand.
